The Playstation 5 (PS5) has been revealed by Sony, and yes I mean the console itself has been shown and 2 versions will be available. A traditional console with a disc drive and a non-disc drive Playstation 5 (digital games only) will be available sometime by the end of the year.

The console reveal itself is probably not the main reason many Playstation fans have been waiting for the reveal, especially considering the live stream was delayed from June 4th to the 11th. The main reason people have been waiting is of course to get a look at the games that will be released on the PS5, and Sony had a lot to show. Here are my personal highlights of the games that were shown on the PS5 reveal :

Ratchet & Clank : Rift Apart

Ratchet & Clank is personally one of my most favorite Playstation exclusive franchise since I played Ratchet & Clank : Up Your Arsenal back in 2004 on the PS2. The series has always had solid platforming with over the top weapons and great humor. The cast of characters have been very likeable with the combination of great gameplay has made this franchise one of the best on Sony’s console.

Rift Apart seems to be a continuation of the main game since A Crack in Time and this newest game in the franchise is looking very good indeed. Rift Apart seems to utilize the PS5’s super fast SSD as you can see the game moving from one world to another with virtually no load times. Ratchet & Clank : Rift apart is already looking like a must by for me and could be one of the reasons I will get a PS5.

Spider-Man : Miles Morales

Another game by the creators of Ratchet & Clank, Insomniac Games seems to be on quite a roll since the release of Spider-Man on the PS4 and them being purchased by Sony. Spider-Man : Miles Morales will be a standalone game focusing on Miles Morales who we know will become another Spider-Man. Since the movie Spider-Man : Into the Spiderverse which stars Miles as the main protagonist, the character has gained a lot of attention lately and it is probably a no brainer that Miles eventually got his own game.

Spider-Man : Miles Morales as far as the trailer shows looks to continue the exciting web slinging gameplay of Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PS4. You can look out for this one when it releases on Holiday 2020.

Village : Resident Evil (Resident Evil 8)

Village : Resident Evil will continue the story of Ethan Winters, the main protagonist from Resident Evil VII. The main setting for the 8th main entry in the series will take place in a remote village as the name of the title suggests (duh). Village : Resident Evil will continue to use the gorgeous looking RE engine and will feature more action gameplay compared to it’s predecessor although the horror survival element will still be a strong aspect of the game.

Chris Redfield, one the mainstay characters in the RE franchise will make an appearance, although it is rumoured he will play a more antagonistic role in Village : Resident Evil. Keep watch for this one as Capcom plans to release Village : Resident Evil in 2021.

Kena : Bridge of Spirits

Kena is a new game from Indie studio Ember Lab. For a game created by an Indie Studio, Kena looks like or maybe even better than many triple A titles out there which is very impressive.

Kena : Bridge of Spirits is an adventure game where you have little black furry friends that will help you on your journey. The game boasts gorgeous visuals akin to Disney style animations. Kena : Bridge of Spirits will be a released sometime in the 2020 holiday season.

Demon’s Souls (Remake)

Bluepoint Games, the studio behind the amazing remake of Shadow of The Colossus has finally revealed what project they are working on since they confirmed they were working on a new project back in 2018. Demon’s Souls which is the original game that started the Soulsborne series is coming to the PS5 remade from the ground up with Bluepoint Games newest engine.

Demon’s Souls was originally released for the PS3 in 2009, and the grandad of the soulsborne genre is ready to test your mettle when it releases exclusively for the PS5.

Pragmata

One of the most interesting and surprising trailers from the PS5 reveal is Pragmata, a Sci-Fi game made by Capcom. The trailer shows many graphical capabilities of the PS5 such as Ray Tracing that you can see on the reflection on the little girls eyes. How the game plays and what the story about is anybodies guess right now but what the game has shown is really interesting so far.

Pragmata’s release is still somewhat far away in 2022, but be sure to watch out for this new IP from Capcom when it releases on the PS5.

Horizon : Forbidden West

The undoubtedly star of the show, Horizon : Forbidden West is the sequel to the amazing Horizon : Zero Dawn which came for the PS4 on 2017. It is a no brainer that Guerrilla Games’ most successful game will eventually get a sequel and what better console to release it on than the PS5. Horizon : Forbidden West will continue Aloy’s journey to discover and save the world from a new threat.

Expect stunning graphics and amazing gameplay from Horizon : Forbidden West as Guerrilla Games expect to release it sometime in 2021.

Other Titles Announced

Other games announced and showed include :

The PS5 already has a strong line-up waiting for it, the only concern everyone has is the price as many speculate and many rumors suggests it probably will cost around $600. This will make the PS5 one of the most expensive console of all time as even the Xbox One X pushed the limit by pricing it $500 at launch. Take it with a grain of salt however as the price is is just that, rumours. Regardless, the coming of the next generation of gaming is always an exciting time as the PS5 is slated to release sometime by the end of this year.
