On August 11th 2020, Sangnila and the FWD Life Bandung 3 team held a second Concept Training Workshop, to educate employees on exploring and utilizing Google Calendar. This two-hour workshop was held in FWD Insurance Office Bandung, Jl. Wastukencana No.87, Tamansari. The Concept Training Workshop was a great success as it had great participant attendance and engagement. Despite COVID-19 limitations, almost all participants were present, and those who were unable to attend the workshop physically participated in the session online via Zoom.
The aim of the workshop was to educate participants on the basic functions of Google Calendar and it’s features. Features such as notifications, events, reminders, invites and were covered and demonstrated on it’s usage, to ensure that participants understand what Google Calendar is, and it’s proper utility.
After the workshop, participants have gained a better understanding of Google Calendar functions. As the majority of the participants are those of older people, many of them needed an update in handling these types of applications.
“New technology was a hassle to learn,” said Ms. Lily Atmadja, one of the workshop participants, “but even though it is a burden, we have to improve, as this is one step in achieving it. Many of us older generation only know how to call and use Whatsapp. After attending the workshop, it turns out that these apps are really easy to understand and use,” she added.
Mrs. Mien Tarsih Iskandar another participant said, “the insurance industry will all be digitalized, therefore a lot of our work will demand us to work at a faster pace. This is why we participated in this workshop: to improve our work performance as insurance agents”.
Mrs. Tarsih Iskandar when asked whether there were any difficulties in learning Google Calendar said, “I think that it wasn’t difficult, as long as we learn step by step. As older housewives like me don’t really understand digital technology and modern laptops, we need to learn slowly.”
The participants also praised Sangnila’s Workshop for how engaging and understandable it was. “Amazing. If Sangnila held another workshop, I would be happy to participate. I had a very good time” said Mrs. Lily Atmadja. “I would love to join another of Sangnila’s workshops. I will come to Sangnila’s workshop until I understand many other Google applications.” Mrs. Tarsih Iskandar added.
Overall many participants left happy and satisfied as not only was the workshop very useful for them in the future but they also had a great time during the workshop. Many of them had never used Google Calendar, and now that they have, many are thinking about using it right away. This might come as a surprise to the younger generation as most of them grew up in the digital age, but these types of technology can be an enigma to the older generation.
Sangnila will hold another workshop around the topic of “Productivity” using Google’s Apps. The date will be announced very shortly.
Sangnila and FWD Life practiced all of the health and safety protocols when the workshop was held as it was both parties responsibility to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
